WHY BUY A RESIDENTIAL FLAGPOLE FOR YOUR HOUSE?

Nothing changes the look of a front yard like a flagpole for the house. Old Glory catching the wind above the roofline, visible from the street, making the whole property feel different.

Whether you're honoring a family member's service or just making it clear where you stand, your search for a residential flagpole ends here at HD Flagpoles - the #1 choice for an American-made flag pole online.

Our telescoping flag poles are built from 6005-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum with a 3-inch base, .090” wall thickness, and an 85 mph flagged wind rating. They collapse in under five minutes before a storm and feature a built-in anti-theft system.

Our one-piece flag poles for houses are even heavier-duty with butt diameters up to 6 inches and .156” walls for a more permanent installation.

Every residential flagpole is backed by a 10-year warranty and ships as a complete kit: free American flag, gold topper ball, ground sleeve, and all hardware included.

HOW TALL SHOULD A RESIDENTIAL FLAGPOLE BE?

15 to 25 feet covers most homes. A two-story house looks best with a 20 or 25-footer. Anything shorter can get lost against the roofline. Larger lots or properties set back from the road might benefit from 30 to 35 feet. Always check local HOA rules and municipal codes before ordering.

HOW DEEP SHOULD I INSTALL THE FLAGPOLE IN MY YARD?

10% of the pole height plus 2 feet. A 20-foot pole needs about 4 feet of depth, and a 25-footer needs 4.5. Your order comes with a ground sleeve sized to your flagpole for house installation. Just set it in concrete per the guide that ships with your flagpole for house.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO INSTALL A RESIDENTIAL FLAGPOLE?

Our residential poles start at $249 and go up to the $2,000-$3,000 range for professional tapered models. Telescoping is fully DIY - you need concrete for the ground sleeve and basic tools, but most homeowners have it up in a day. Free shipping on everything, and every pole comes with a free American flag too! You won’t find this much value for your money elsewhere.

SHOULD THE AMERICAN FLAG BE ON THE LEFT OR THE RIGHT OF THE HOUSE?

There's no left-or-right rule on a freestanding pole in the yard. Put it wherever gives the flag room to fly and looks best from the street. If you're mounting a flag flat against the house, the union (blue field with stars) should face the observer's left (per the U.S. Flag Code).
