About HD Flagpoles

In the heartland of America, where patriotism runs deep, a tale of family, legacy, and unwavering determination unfolds. This is the story of HD Flagpoles, a company born from the shared vision of Dan and Nick Garren, a father-son duo whose bond was forged not just by blood, but by a mutual passion for business and their shared love of country.

Dan Garren, a seasoned general contractor with over four decades of experience, had already left an indelible mark on the American business landscape. His previous venture, Cyde Enterprises, had grown from humble beginnings into a national powerhouse, forging partnerships with iconic American brands like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Ace Hardware, GSI, KFC, Long John Silvers, Frontier Communications, Road Ranger, Wendy's and many more. But for Dan, success was never just about the bottom line; it was about the relationships forged, the trust earned, and the values upheld along the way.

Alongside Dan stood his son, Nick, a seasoned veteran in the world of e-commerce with more than 15 years of experience selling products online. Having cut his teeth in the family business years before, Nick paired his father's proven wisdom with fresh perspectives, and together they saw beyond flagpoles to build something that would embody American entrepreneurship and patriotism.

Dan's story was pure Americana. Born poor in rural Illinois, he worked the UPS night shift all through high school to help put food on the family table. His business wasn't built on luck, but rather a simple philosophy: treat people right, expect the best and success will follow. With this foundation, HD Flagpoles set an ambitious goal: to become the nation's premier flagpole provider, serving both commercial giants and everyday homeowners alike.

Dan and Nick's combined experience gave them a truly unique edge in the flagpole industry. They handled projects of all sizes, worked coast to coast with contractors and instituted a fanatical approach to customer service. The partners seemed to have everything figured out, sales were up, growth was constant and business was good.

But life, as it often does, had other plans, and on the twelfth day of May, 2023, Dan lost a short but hard-fought battle with an aggressive pancreatic cancer. His death cut deep and left the fledgling business and all the employees with a turbulent and uncertain future. But rather than quitting, Dan's death inspired great resolve. Nick and the rest of the team decided to fight on, they vowed to continue building something great for all Americans, something everyone could be proud of, especially Dan.

Today, HD Flagpoles stands for more than business. It's a celebration of American ideals and Dan's principles. As we continue to grow, we carry forward nearly half a century of business wisdom, treating every interaction as a chance to demonstrate American excellence. Each flag raised tells a story of resilience, family, and the American spirit, a tribute to a man who dared to dream big and the team determined to carry that dream forward. This is more than just a business story; it's an American story, one of resilience, family, and the enduring power of the human spirit. We never quit and neither should you.
